Some additional notes: - The desktop does the right thing in other places. Eg: my screen brightness is adjusted properly when I connect and disconnect the AC - The applet power level seems to update in the initial AC state after booting. It seems to stop when the AC connection in connected/disconnected and then needs to be rebooted to recover.
