Public bug reported: Binary package hint: system-config-printer
Using Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-15-generic, smbclient Version 3.3.2, and system-config-printer 1.1.3, the smb.conf WORKGROUP is not overruled by the specifications you give in the system-config-printer. If you install a printer "COLOR" in Workgroup "WORK" on server "scp012", like /WORK/scp012/COLOR, then use authorizations, you will not be able to use your network printer using the gnome print options, as long as you do not manually change the WORKGROUP settings in the smb.conf file. You get messages like "Cannot prompt for authorization", or "To many failed attempts"... It took me a while to discover that, and it would be better if system-config-printer is able to overrule the global samba settings, or at least warn people that they have to make the manual changes. ** Affects: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- system-config-printer does not overwrite samba global workgroup settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
