Wow, that's quite a bunch of uploads there. I should mention that on the current version of PulseAudio, which seems to be 0.9.16~test7-14-g7ca81-0ubuntu2, I see some slight changes. PulseAudio no longer restricts my slider movement in alsamixer, and let's me slide the PCM all the way down without interfering and adjusting master.
