Here we need two links:
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/i486-pc-linux-gnu ->
/usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/
AND
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/i486-pc-linux-gnu -> /usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/
you can check that in gtk/gtkmodules.c in _get_modules_path.
If you say get_modules_path ("engines") you will get
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/i486-pc-linux-gnu/engines or
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines
If you say get_modules_path ("modules") you will get
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/i486-pc-linux-gnu/modules or
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules
