Hi,

this problem is not yet solved. typically i dont update to new releases
very often because things just keep breaking and i am not expert enough
in Linux to fix them well. so when i find a release that mostly works
for me, i like to stay with it.

when i do update i will certainly let you know, since i use the gdal
library a lot. its really quite important to get this bug fixed - at
least for scientific geospatial needs...

cheers,
Vishal

Subject: [Bug 126916] Re: GDAL hdf/netcdf build problem

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Bug description:
There is a problem building gdal that creates a conflict between the hdf and
netcdf drivers. Please take a look at http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/HDF .
If the package is not built correctly, gdal gets a core dump when opening
netcdf files.
