I was moving from Xbuntu 7.04 (I'm positive about the 7, not so sure about the .04) and I was using the update-manager. I'm sorry but I've since removed that installation so I can't provide more information like a log or anything like that. I've downloaded and installed Ubuntu 9.04 and it's working just fine right now. Things I can tell you: 1. I was running the install in a virtual machine using Sun VirtualBox 3.04 2. Again, I was moving from Xbuntu to (from what the update notification said) Ubuntu 3. Update manager 4. The only thing it said was Can't install xbuntu-desktop, no other info other than to submit a bug report.
I'm sure it really doesn't matter anymore, given the age of my installation and the upgrade path are older versions anyway. But, I try to help when I can.
