Hi, I tested the suggested package from xorg-edgers PPA:
xserver-xorg-video-ati - 1:6.12.99+git20090902.794ae743-0ubuntu0tormod System freezes after seconds. --------- After restart I saved the Xorg.log. I think the log process was interrupted by the freeze.
