Actually it seems to me that it's a problem specifically related to kernel 2.6.28-15-generic
See the dmesg result below for kernel 15 and 11 and how they differ. Also Saitek X52 Pro works correctly on my machine Kubuntu 64-bit 9.04 with kernel 2.6.28-13-generic It would be interesting to know what exactly changed from kernel 2.6.28-13-generic to 2.6.28-15-generic, as I'm fairly sure this is the root cause of the malfunction described in this bug report.
