I tried the opposite approach this morning and ENABLED KMS in jaunty with the 2.6.31-9.29 kernel by following these instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting. I was able to boot and log in successfully, but the sound is not working correctly. It is behaving much like the 2.6.28-15.50~lp389040oga3-generic kernel would if I set "model=auto".
$ cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 2.6.31-9.29-386 1. playback NOT OK 2. headphones NOT OK 3. internal mic OK 4. external mic not tested I tried: model=toshiba model=auto no model line Also, it has the additional devices in the mixer, much like "model=auto" in the "oga3" kernel.
