I'm having this same problem with Kubuntu 9.04, (AMD64 version). Jaunty. It seems to be mostly people with 64-bit Kubuntu who have this problem.
Flash videos in Firefox and Konqueror had no sound. Amarok sound was fine. Here is the work-around that I used. I used K-Mixer, from the system tray, to change the channel "PCM" to maximum. (I then restarted Firefox, but this didn't work, sound was still off.) I then shut down my computer, and restarted. This worked. My sound is fine now.
