On my Lenovo T61 laptop, sometimes the boot process gets stuck with
just a blank tty. No HDD LED activity. However, often justa reboot works
fine. Also, Attempting to switch ttys during boot appears to help.

[Karmic] kernel >= 2.6.30-10 with vga=791 tty consoles not accessible and not
showing dmesg.
