I want to confirm that 0.4.6 package seems to work for me. My users are using Dell Inspiron Mini 10v with Ubuntu UNR (I reinstalled it over the Dell-customized UNR), and had that desktop-switcher problem. When they came to me with their desktop stalled after trying to switch desktop mode, I just manually installed (dkpg -i) desktop-switcher_0.4.6, and entered 'gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/session/required_components_list --type list --list-type=string ["windowmanager","panel","filemanager"]', and it's working fine.
