If you need to set /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/keyboard active=false remotely, which I did, just use ssh -X u...@hostname gconf- editor. You will need to log out, if you already logged in via rdesktop within xrdp, for the settings to take effect. Enjoy typing letters correctly!
