Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Hi! Amarok has an OSD system that can show, for example, track changes.

The OSD settings allow the user to choose the background color of the
OSD window and the opacity of the background. (The text is always
opaque.)

Amarok does this using a trick: it captures the screen contents under
the window, and paints the window background with this content, blended
with the background color. Since it only does this at start, the
transparency effect is ruined if whatever is below the OSD window
changes. (For example, a window below moves.)

Whenever desktop effects are available, i.e. there is a compositing
manager, Amarok should use an alpha texture to make the OSD window
really transparent.

** Affects: amarok (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
