That must be fixed upstream and will be in Karmic when the next GNOME
beta is out. I guess different issues are mixed here, but they all come
from the fact that a field is empty: home dir, shell or password. René's
case (comment #9) for example is because one user does not have a home
dir set (see the logs).
This has been partially fixed already in Karmic, and will be solved
completely very soon (accept empty passwords too). The warning line has
been removed (except for empty logins), so that bug can't appear. Hope
that will help you to administer your system. Please continue reporting
precise and detailed bugs about the gnome-system-tools!
