Public bug reported:

I downloaded Ubuntu, burned it to CD. Installed (nearly) flawlessly.

I then downloaded Kubuntu, burned it to CD. Booted fine, made it to the
installation screen, then hung. The mouse cursor could be moved, but no
clicks or keyboard actions made it through. CAPS lock key worked, but
TAB and other standard keystrokes were mercilessly gobbled up.
Eventually froze entirely after saluting with CTRL-ALT-DEL or CTRL-
BACKSPACE (not sure which).

Tried to boot in safe mode. Crashed while trying to empty the Trash (the
installer tried to empty the Trash, I did not).

System:

ATI Radeon 7200
VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller
AR5212 802.11abg NIC
ViewSonic 20.1" LCD
AMD CPU
Linux version 2.6.17-10-generic
hda: Maxtor 6Y080L0, ATA DISK drive
hdc: MAXTOR 6L040J2, ATA DISK drive
hdd: LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-811S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

Let me know if you want more details.
