Public bug reported: I downloaded Ubuntu, burned it to CD. Installed (nearly) flawlessly.
I then downloaded Kubuntu, burned it to CD. Booted fine, made it to the installation screen, then hung. The mouse cursor could be moved, but no clicks or keyboard actions made it through. CAPS lock key worked, but TAB and other standard keystrokes were mercilessly gobbled up. Eventually froze entirely after saluting with CTRL-ALT-DEL or CTRL- BACKSPACE (not sure which). Tried to boot in safe mode. Crashed while trying to empty the Trash (the installer tried to empty the Trash, I did not).
