I haven't been able to reproduce this with Karmic. There were two bugs here:
1. The old launcher didn't always free the old iconviews, hence they stuck around. This was fixed in the Jaunty cycle 2. The intel video drivers have a bug in which this issue occurs. This seems to have been fixed in the most current release of these drivers, and partly in those available for Jaunty in the xorg-edgers PPA. As 1. is fixed and 2. is an issue with video drivers rather than the launcher, I'd like to mark this bug as fix-released in netbook-remix- launcher project.
