Hi,

I just installed Ubuntu 6.10 (an upgrade from SUSE 10) and stumbled upon
this bug. Here is how I found it:

1. Create new SUSE with these partiations:

/dev/hda1 -> /
/dev/hdc1 -> /archives
/dev/hda2 -> /usr/local
/dev/hda4 -> /home

2. Perform a new install of Ubuntu 6.10

3. Try to keep the same partitions as the SUSE installation, but format
hda1 and hda2

4. Assign the partitions as shown in (1)

5. Click "Forward"

6. Error message: "No root partition selected"

To resolve the issue:

1. Go back to the previous screen
2. Remove the hda1 and hda2 partitions
3. Reallocate the partitions
4. Reassign them to hda1 and hda2
5. Click "Forward"

Ubuntu now seems to acknolwedge that "/" has been assigned.

Nasty.
