Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

upgrade from 6.06 -> 6.10

using sudo update-manager -c

Short into the update I get this fatal:
"Could not install 'libc6'
The upgrade aborts now. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager'
package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.
subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Segmentation fault)"

and the terminal shows:
"Preparing to replace libc6 2.3.6-0ubuntu20.4 (using
.../libc6_2.4-1ubuntu12.3_i386.deb) ...
all.deb) ...

I am not running gnome or any other fancy X environment. Just a almost
blank X server.

Will attach logfiles later....
