It still is unfortunately. It hadn't happened for a long time and then 
another freeze occured a couple of days ago. I am not sure if the system 
was under heavy load, though.

I am currently using a kernel.org kernel version 2.6.30.5.

If you want the kernel configuration or anything else, let me know.

To anyone else having this issue: Try Alt-SysRq-R,W,Q,T,M,S,E,I,U,B 
(i.e., hold down Alt and SysRq and then press the letters in the given 
order) and then post the syslog output. I'll try and remember that 
myself next time...
