I thought this bug was long since closed. After deleting the gconf directory in my home dir, gnumeric is working again correctly. Don't know what caused this issue but it's working for me now. Maybe gnumeric had troubles parsing gconf data from an earlier version. Since nobody else seems to have this problem, I guess this can be closed. Thanks everybody!
