I still run Kubuntu Hoary with KDE 3.4.0, but I haven't had this problem for a while. I don't use all of the sites I was using when I reported this problem originally, so perhaps I'm not exposing the cause of the bug any more, but it could be the case that some fix or other made its way downstream when some security fixes were introduced.
