Is there any update on this bug? My gnome panel moves from my laptop screen to the external monitor every time I connect it at work and it's profoundly annoying as I travel a lot and lose my gnome panel next time I'm on the road. Going into gconf- editor to kludge it back to the laptop screen is very, very unfriendly.
