i installed, reinstalled, and tried several version releases including latest beta. can't remember which silly name it's called. anyhow i gave up. it's gotta be a hardware dependent problem. in fact i got so tired of fighting wireless driver problem i paid twenty bucks to linuxtant for a solution. it was still a pain the ass to install but at least it works.
