According to the Debian bug this is fixed now. Since I didn't hear back from the original reporter, there is nothing more we can do to verify that. The other people who indicate they have the same bug unfortunately did not provide enough info to tell that they did indeed have the problem. So if anyone is still seeing this error message, please file a new bug report.
Btw, I think the error simply indicates that software rendering is being used.
