These guys don't have a clue about sound or volume Walt. Ubuntu sound is the laughting stock of the OS world.
Users have been dicking around with this issue for 7 years and Canonical won't even try to address it. What makes you think they will now? Ubuntu won't do squat about sound, they never have. They are incompetent when it comes to sound. Every OS on the planet has mastered what sound and volume is, but Ubuntu doesn't have a clue. It's 2009 and they are still trying to communicate with tin-cans and kite string. Canonical is the laughing stock of the Linux world when it comes to sound and volume. They would rather go off on another release chase than fix any problems. It's always the same story. "Maybe we'll fix it on the next release". When? What? What sound problem? Try this? Try that? It's your fault. Did you do this? Can you post that? ..... It's a perpetual circle jerk with these novices at Canonical. Anyone....and I mean anyone who has had the displeasure of dealing with Ubuntu sound issues will agree with me. Canonical not only doesn't have a clue.........they don't give a damn. Just look at launchpad. There are over 400 pages of launchpad posting on sound and volume problems and so far Ubuntu has simply brushed them all under the rug. There are thousands upon thousands of postings on the web worldwide, yet Ubuntu doesn't even acknowledge that a problem is present. Why? Because they're amateurs imitating professionals. But they want your money for server support. Do you trust them? Har Har Har Har.
