karmic amd64, skype-static here I can confirm what Mingming and Oli wrote: I took this file: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29924427/libasound2-plugins_1.0.20-1ubuntu6_i386.deb unpacked the missing shared object files into /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/ et voilà... skype is running again
