This is probably due to hald rather than the kernel. ** Description changed:
- Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-27-amd64-k8 + Binary package hint: hal On our Sun x4600, there is a phantom CPU load of about 9.4 and no processes seemingly consuming resources. /proc/interrupts reveals that the ohci_hcd kernel module is spewing interrupts and when it is unloaded the CPU load goes down. Unfortunately this removes keyboard and mouse support which is important. google revealed similar reports: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5112957 http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il/msg45814.html Ryan ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: linux-source-2.6.15 => hal -- ohci_hcd driver causes interrupt flood, high load https://launchpad.net/bugs/80539 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
