Yes, I saw that Maintainer: is written twice, but in the Debian package it is written only once (Maintainer: Maintainers of Vala packages <pkg- vala-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org>). So Debian is not affected.
vala is still in universe, that's why I have changed the maintainer to "Ubuntu MOTU Developers <ubuntu-m...@lists.ubuntu.com>" (v2).
