I'm sorry that this bug has been ping-ponged around, but everyone's
trying to find the right location for this bug. Duplicate does not mean
take a hike, it means that we are trying to bring together all the
information from different reporters in order to process the 300+ open
bugs in gnome-power-manager. Bugs with many duplicates and comments will
get more attention than those without, and we'd appreciate it if you
could continue working with the bug report if duplicated.

However, you are correct - the bug it is listed as a duplicate deals
with resuming from suspend, not suspending itself. Therefore, it should
not be a duplicate.

Please remember that myself and nearly all developers and bug triagers
in Ubuntu are volunteers doing this in their spare time. If you see a
mistake, please be courteous. For example, "I do not believe that the
bug is a duplicate since it deals with resume from suspend." would have
been an effective message to reopen this bug.

We should perform the following steps to further debug this problem:
1) Test in Karmic Koala, a liveCD should suffice:
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. This is because gnome-power-manager has gone
through significant changes since Jaunty. (HAL has be removed and replaced with
devicekit-power, and version 2.24 of GPM is now 2.27.5 in Karmic.)
2) If the bug exists in Karmic, while running Karmic type into the terminal:
apport-collect 400097
3) In Karmic, follow debugging instructions at:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager, specifically the sections
on:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager#Getting%20info%20from%20GPM
and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager#Getting%20DBUS%20info

Since GPM can suspend and resume, this is most likely a linux problem,
and am assigning to linux (Ubuntu). Marking as incomplete since we need
the above information.
