Hi Colin I did re-install almost immediately and the second installation went through without a hitch. I've been through the page you sent me and couldn't see anything there that seemed relevant to my situation.
I'll also mention that the very first time I tried to install Dapper, I had another issue with Ubiquity, although at that time it was the partitioning. After repeated attempts to manually change the partitions (with no success), I tried it one more time, and "it just worked". Nothing had changed and I'd merely rebooted...again. On that occasion I didn't get the option to file any bugs though. Sorry I'm not much help.
