No initrd for the first entry, plus it somehow got a symlink for the
actual kernel.

So just do this:

sudo rm -f /boot/vmlinuz
sudo update-grub

Life should be good after that. Most likely you or something else
modified (or removed) /etc/kernel-img.conf, which is what tells it to
create or not create this symlink.
