I tested it again with 8.04.3 and 9.10a3. Hardy with wvdial works, but there are many other problems (soundcontrol has no affect, automount usbstick doesn't work, ...) 9.10a3 works also really good, connect card -> wizard -> few clicks and ready for connection :) Karmic Koala seems do be the best working Ubuntu since Feisty Fawn.
