These crashes are very similar to what I experienced installing the 9.04 LiveCD version of Ubuntu (or Xubuntu) on an Intel i440BX based Compaq Armada E500 laptop (please see #399589). I do remember getting the error message about IO-APIC resourse allocation failing on the one or two occasions where the screen didn't simply freeze showing the install progress bar.
>From what I can tell, nothing after 8.10 will install on this & quite a few other Armada models - the most recent BIOS being dated 2002 in the case of the E500. Hope this helps. Please contact me if I can be of any further assistance, as I've got quite a few of these trusty old warriors! -- udev crashes 2.6.28-11 kernel on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
