Comment 3 from ar (the original bug reporter) notes this seems to be resolved with the newer 2.6.30 kernel. The kernel for the upcoming Karmic 9.10 release will actually target the 2.6.31 kernel so I would not expect for this issue to regress. For now I'm closing this bug.
@tdn, please try the newer 2.6.31 based kernel either by using one of the latest Mainline kernel builds - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds or ISO CD images of the latest Karmic Alpha releases are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
