It seems you may have inadvertently uninstalled a package you weren't supposed to. I'm converting this to a question in our support tracker for now. I'd also like to point out that I was unable to unzip the VarLogDistupgrade200906191438.gz file attached so I'm unable to examine what the events were that led up to this error. Please take a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUpdateManager to see if you can capture the relevant debug information if this is still an issue. Thanks.
