It seems you may have inadvertently uninstalled a package you weren't
supposed to.  I'm converting this to a question in our support tracker
for now.  I'd also like to point out that I was unable to unzip the
VarLogDistupgrade200906191438.gz file attached so I'm unable to examine
what the events were that led up to this error.  Please take a look at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUpdateManager to see if you can capture
the relevant debug information if this is still an issue.  Thanks.

I installed the ubuntu netbook-remix packages on my hp pavilion dv5 to tryo it 
out but since compiz was acting strange I decided to unistall the packages that 
I thought were installed when I tried to start compiz after the packages were 
removed all my panels and menus disapeared to include the window frames. it 
took me a while to get things back to almost how they used to be but when I try 
to update/upgrade it give me an error
