Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kile

I hope this is the right way to do this. I have never started a bug
report before.

I am running Kile 2.0.81 (although the splash screen says 2.1 beta) on
Jaunty, 64 bit. Help->About in Kile says it is using KDE 4.2.2, though
at the moment I am just using the default Gnome for Ubuntu. I just re-
installed from scratch a few days ago. I also installed all of the
debugging packages for Kile (I think).

apt-cache policy kile:
kile:
  Installed: 1:2.1.0~svn942443-0ubuntu4.1
  Candidate: 1:2.1.0~svn942443-0ubuntu4.1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.1.0~svn942443-0ubuntu4.1 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1:2.1.0~svn942443-0ubuntu4 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages

Anway, Kile keeps crashing when I attempt to run latex, either through a
custom shortcut (e.g. alt+2) or through the menus. It begins to compile
the DVI, then quits and the program closes.

I started Kile from terminal and this is what it said:

At which point, of course, it crashes, giving this message:
The application Kile (kile) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV).

When I attempt to view the details in the window asking me to submit a
bug report, this is what it says:

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in
the crash.
