Public bug reported: [NOTFOUND=return] in nsswitch.conf prevents local addresses from resolving with local dns-server.
Ubuntu 9.04 "dig machine.mydomain.local" or "nslookup machine.mydomain.local" resolves the address correctly. "ping machine.mydomain.local" or "telnet machine.mydomain.local" fails with resolving. Adress of DNS server is retrieved by DHCP from windows server. DNS server is on Windows Server 2003 R2. Removing [NOTFOUND=return] from "hosts:" in /etc/nsswitch.conf solves the problem. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: dns -- [NOTFOUND=return] in nsswitch.conf prevents local addresses from resolving with local dns-server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397759 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
