Ok, the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package wasn't installed. Once installed and rebooted, the touchpad works again. I have to use three fingers plus the button to right-click, but thats another bug that is yet to be resolved since late jaunty.
I used the alternate CD, so the next step is working out why the synaptics driver wasn't installed. I also found the same with the bcmwl- modaliases package not being installed, but again thats another bug. I'll try with another daily on Monday to see if all of this behavior has changed. If not, I'll pursue further. affects ubuntu/hal status invalid ** Changed in: hal (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Touchpad not functioning on MacBook Pro 4.1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396377 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
