Public bug reported:
On Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid sometimes my system will stop playing back any sounds and the system will require a reboot. This can happen during VLC playback (rarely) but will usually happen when the computer is idle for a while. Sometimes it takes 10 days and sometimes 1, so I haven't been able to find a definite timeout. I have run, ubuntu-bug -p alsa-base and also ran alsa-info.sh script to provide extra data. http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=f2b1325487f43a432afb4696e677d020fed82c93 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: alsa-base 1.0.17.dfsg-2ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: SHELL=/bin/bash PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SourcePackage: alsa-driver Uname: Linux 2.6.27-14-generic i686 ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- sound will fail sometimes and system needs a reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396817 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
