Me too since i have installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my new PC it froze randomly
i searched a lot in the last weeks, to find a tip, how i could fix this I tried a lot of diffrent nvidia-rivers on a copy of this install, but nothing did really help. I found 1 comment, who suggestet to disable 3 of my 4 Cores, and that did it !!!
