I updated my system to the latest drivers and X, and it works fine (better then before to be sure).
No screen flicker. However, when I try to change the brightness through the shortcut keys on my laptop keyboard, or through the brightness applet in gnome, the screen flicker and CPU get high, but after 5 sec it reaches the desired level and stops.
