I know this bug is already closed, but profiling should create a bigger improvement considering it customizes the bootup process to the computer. And your readahead might be over-enthusiastic if you are logging in after you do the profile option, because it will then try and load all the files you use to log in, which is not the intended result. You should use the profile option, and once the login prompt comes up, shut down.
