I tried to unload the "via" and "drm" kernel modules and renamed them in order they cannot be loaded again:
# /etc/init.d/gdm stop # rmmod via # rmmod drm # mv /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/via/via.ko /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/via/via.ko.orig # mv /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/drm.ko /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/drm.ko.orig # X -verbose 10 Result: when the external monitor is connected then the system is running. When I disconnect the external monitor and start X then the system freezes. I attach the log when the system freees. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log-patched-without-drm" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28452893/Xorg.0.log-patched-without-drm -- [K8M800] mouse pointer corruptly displayed at the bottom of the X screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386740 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
