Initially it did not work, I had to purge the system of all old nvidia driver files and do a clean install. This has fixed the glx missing error and everything now seems to be working OK (in jaunty using geforce9600). There seems to have been a problem with older driver files getting mixed in with the new ones? Thanks for your support tony.
