This was a problem for me in Hardy. Until recently, I did not see it in Jaunty. However, today X became unresponsive twice when trying to unlock from gnome-screensaver. Whenever this happens, I cannot even switch to a different tty to kill X. My only way out is to use the SysRq key combinations to TERM/KILL all processes, sync filesystems, and reboot.
I haven't found anything useful in my log files. I'm running the 64-bit 2.6.28-11-generic kernel on a ThinkPad X61. I believe the chipset is in the Intel 915 family. I have tried starting gnome-screensaver with the debug and no-daemon options in the past, but it never seemed to lock up when running that way. It's quite frustrating. I'm on the verge of canning gnome- screensaver and going to xscreensaver. -- gnome-screensaver locks up randomly when unlocking screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183486 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
