Public bug reported:

The OS is UBUNTU 9.04 AMD64. The Programs I used are Movie Player and
Sound Recorder. The files were recorded from the radio using a Creativy
Audio Extigy card in a Windows XP machine. All of the files used for
troubleshooting are recorded at 16 bit and 44kHz. All the MP3 files
play.

Some of the files that do not play on Movie player, will play when using
Sound recorder. There seems to be no relationship between the size of
the file and whether it will play or not. All the files play on Windows
Vista and Windows XP. The files are located on an external drive.
Copying them to the internal drive in the UBUNTU machine does not change
the result.
