Mike, Did you do an upgrade from 2.6.27 or did you do a new re-install. As soon as I installed 9.04 2.6.28-11 generic on a clean install the usplash beep stopped. However, new problems cropped up like now I don't boot down all the time and suspend appears to be broken. The problems are worse in Kubuntu so I don't use it. On a side note I couldn't even run the live cd/dvd 8.10 without the horrible beep caused by usplash. Haven't had a single blip since 9.04 though. It appears rock solid.
