Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.30-10-generic
The Sony Z-Series laptop has two graphic chips: GeForce 9300M GS and Intel
Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controler.
I am using (and writing here about) the Intel-Graphics. It runs with the i915
Kernel Driver/Module. In /etc/modules I added a line:
options i915 modeset=1
and that works extremely good and fast but since Kernel Update from 2.6.30-9 to
2.6.30-10 the Keyboard brightness buttons as well as the (Gnome) "Power Manager
Brightness Applet 2.27.1" does not work and when I mouse-over the brightness
applet in the panel it pops the message "Cannot get laptop panel brightness"
When I start with an older Kernel everything works.
