1. it's a pitty that upstream won't add this feature, but as you said, we can't do much about it here.
2. I agree that the power savings are minimal, but when I disable a wireless adapter, I always expect it to disable its radio and LEDs, too, if possible. On my Thinkpad X200m when I disable wireless connections in NM, at least the LED turns off.
